  • Etymology: Comes from the Greek
Nestor which means one who goes home auspicious.
  • History:
In Greek mythology, it was the name of a king, he had received the gift of life by the gods. He participated in the Trojan War. He was regarded as a wise old man providing advice in the Iliad, the Greek name Designating the city of Troy.
Nestor was bishop of Magydos in southern Turkey today, in 251, he was crucified during the persecutions of Decius (Roman Emperor who led a fight against the Christians), while Christians fled, he allowed himself stop.
This name is quite rarely used, however in recent years, it is increasing, in 2006, twelve children which carry this name.
